CREATIVE STRATEGY
This is not an oxymoron. Successful companies
are creative, but their concepts are backed with and built on business
strategy.
Cool ideas must be aligned with a company’s brand, values,
business objectives and measurable target outcomes. This takes more
discipline than running with the first novel thought that strikes.
However, it pays you back in results.
I approach projects and campaigns
with these five steps:
1. Business review - how the project fits into
your overall business plan
2. Brainstorming - unleashes the creativity! (candy helps too)
3. Creative brief - crystallizes ideas from brainstorming into
a project description with goals
4. Work plan - spells out who does what, when things are due,
and how much things cost
5. Measurement plan - to confirm the work has done its intended
job
Applied in a “quick-start” fashion, each of the five steps
can generate less than a page of planning documentation. Or, we can
roll up our sleeves and get into more depth and detail. I’ll
work with you to find a level of creative strategy appropriate to
your project,
budget and timeline.
